Work and leisure are often thought of distinct spheres of daily life that are to be kept separate in the best interests of productivity, professionalism, and relationships.  While this notion may be true for some types of leisure interests, UREC wants to challenge this idea when it comes to incorporating exercise and recreation into the workday.

University Recreation offers University of Arkansas departments and offices a program called Traveling Trainer to facilitate workplace wellness and exercise at no cost. The program offers fitness classes, educational seminars, and individual wellness assessments within the convenience of various campus offices or locations of choice.

The UREC Traveling Trainer program wants to introduce exercise and wellness to those who are not sure where to start, or provide additional options to those who may already practice them regularly. Through workplace offerings, UREC hopes to reduce constraints related to time, facilities, and cost. The program brings one educational seminar and one activity session to registered offices.

Sessions can be tailored to reflect the needs or interests of the group. Examples include:

  • Exercises that you can do at your desk
  • Healthy nutrition and recipe ideas
  • What you need to know when starting an exercise plan.
In addition, participants receive individual wellness assessments that can be discussed with UREC staff if desired.

This program is offered at no cost to university departments and offices, and can be scheduled by completing the online UREC Traveling Trainer request form
