Security Vulnerability in Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer users are vulnerable to online attacks due to a serious security issue reported by Microsoft on Sept. 17. This security issue is known to allow malicious software to be downloaded through the browser when the user is viewing a web page.
The IT Services Security Team recommends that those using Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, and 9, switch to another, more secure browser until Microsoft releases an update to fix the vulnerability. Frequently check for updates in the Windows Update area of the Control Panel.
Alternative browser options include Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox), Chrome (http://google.com/chrome), or Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari).
