The University of Arkansas Police Department has added seven new patrol officers to its ranks. The new officers will replace others who left the department over the past year, and with their addition the patrol unit will be at full strength, 17 officers.

The seven were sworn in by UAPD chief Steve Gahagans during a ceremony on Monday, June 25.

Officer Lagarian Cross had previously worked for the Malvern police department where he had attended the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and had been certified as a police officer. He completed a seven-week field training program at UAPD before assuming his patrol duties.

Officers David Robertson, Clint Crews, Pamela Boese, Daniel Quinde, Brandon Powell and Gabriel Golden each finished 12 weeks of training at the academy before taking 12 weeks of UAPD field training.

Officer Cross was assigned to patrol duties in September 2011.

Officers Boese and Quinde were assigned to patrol in January 2012.

Officers Crews and Robertson began their patrol duties in April 2012.

Officers Golden and Powell are scheduled to complete field training during the first week of August and will then be assigned to patrol.
