The University of Arkansas will be well represented at the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant July 11-14 in Hot Springs. Eight contestants are U of A students or alumnae, and their respective titles from around the state are:

  • Miss Northwest Arkansas Sarah Elise Gafvert – senior
  • Miss Ouachita River Rosalyn Taylor – graduate
  • Miss Central Arkansas Erin Larsen – senior
  • Miss University of Arkansas Tracy Neal – graduate student
  • Miss Frisco Springs Simone Mullinax – graduate
  • Miss Greater Little Rock Bethany Whitfield – law student
  • Miss White River Helen Wisner – graduate
  • Miss Heart of the Ozarks Sloane Roberts – junior

“The university should be very proud of these ladies,” said Toni Bahn, director of the Miss University of Arkansas pageant and director of special events for the department of intercollegiate athletics. “They each serve as outstanding representatives for the university and for the state, and they are passionate about academics and philanthropy. I wish them each the best of luck, and I know any of them would represent our state well on the Miss America stage.”

In order to compete in the Miss Arkansas scholarship pageant, you must win one of 47 preliminaries held throughout the year. The Miss University of Arkansas preliminary is the state’s largest and holds the reputation as one of the most competitive.
