University Begins Search for Engineering Dean
Provost Sharon Gaber has initiated the search for the dean of the College of Engineering. The search committee is being chaired by Jim Rankin, vice provost for research and economic development. The committee plans to begin reviewing applications by October with a goal of having a new dean in place by July 2013. The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Engineering and reports to the provost/vice chancellor for academic affairs. The dean also holds the Irma F. and Raymond F. Giffels Endowed Chair in Engineering.
Currently, Terry Martin is serving as interim dean of the college. The former dean, Ashok Saxena, held the position from July 2003 until June 2012, when he began a two-year term as vice chancellor of Galgotias University, a new private, multidisciplinary research university near Delhi, India.
