Young Volunteers Needed to Beta Test Economic Learning iPad App
The Bessie B. Moore Center for Economic Education at the Sam M. Walton College of Business is looking for volunteers from age 5 to 8 to try out the beta version of an iPad app developed by Neale S. Godfrey, author and expert on family and children’s finances.
The fun, educational and creative iPad app, which uses characters from Godfrey’s books about financial responsibility, asks kids to do tasks that teach about sustainability while managing financial resources.
The Moore Center needs 25 children ages 5 to 8 to field test the beta version of the iPad app from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Willis Shaw Elementary School in Elm Springs. Ice cream will be served to the participants and adults. Adults bringing youngsters to the event will have a chance to visit with Godfrey about the project and financial education for children. Participants are asked to bring an iPad along if they have one.
Godfrey formed Children's Financial Network Inc. to promote financial education for children and their parents. She has authored 16 books dealing with money, life skills and values. Her first adult book, Money Doesn't Grow On Trees: A Parent's Guide To Raising Financially Responsible Children, became #1 on the New York Times best-seller list. In addition to her books, Godfrey has developed The One And Only Common Sense/Cents Series, the first money curriculum for Grades 1 to 8 along with a CD-ROM, Money Town, for children from kindergarten through eighth grade.
Those wishing to participate should contact Amy Moore at amoore@walton.uark.edu or 479-575-2855.
