Professor, Graduate Student Elected to Positions with National Associations
A University of Arkansas professor and graduate student were recently elected to positions with two national associations affiliated with their field of study.
Steve Dittmore, an assistant professor of recreation and sport management, was elected to a two-year term as a member-at-large for the executive committee of the North American Society for Sport Management. His appointment begins May 26 at an executive committee changeover meeting during the society's conference in Seattle.
Shannon McCarthy, who is working on a doctorate in recreation and sport management, was elected to serve a two-year term as the student director on the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation Board of Directors. McCarthy serves as a graduate assistant for the recreation and sport management program at the University of Arkansas. She received a master's degree in higher education from the university last year.
McCarthy's appointment will begin May 23, when it is announced at the third annual Commission on Sport Management Accreditation member meeting, also during the North American Society for Sport Management conference in Seattle.
