Lewis & Clark Store Coming to Garland Center

Lewis & Clark Outfitters is planning a June opening for its newest store at the Garland Center on the University of Arkansas campus.

The Lewis & Clark Campus Outfitters location will be near the University Bookstore and the campus Wal-Mart. The new campus store will specialize in outfitting students for outdoor adventures and everyday campus life. The store will be equipped and staffed to get students into hiking, camping, rock climbing, kayaking and other outdoor adventures, and will carry several top outdoor brands including The North Face, Chaco, ENO Hammocks, Marmot, Gregory, Merrell, MSR and more.

“We’re extremely excited about our newest venture,” said Rob Potts, one of the company’s owners and the manager of the flagship store in Springdale. “This new Campus location gives us incredible exposure to students, and will add a lot of energy to our ability to introduce students to outdoor adventures. By partnering with the University, we hope to bring as much energy to the campus as our new outfitters and customers will undoubtedly bring to our Lewis & Clark brand."

Helen Robinson, the company’s vice president of merchandise and campus store planner, was also very excited about the campus location for another reason; talent recruitment. “As Lewis & Clark grows, the campus store gives us access to some of the state’s best young talent,” said Robinson. “We’ve already met some extremely capable students in the store-planning process and only expect those relationships to expand.”

In addition to selling high-quality gear and apparel, Lewis & Clark Outfitters also provides expert outdoor training through its series of outdoor educational classes. Lewis & Clark is also heavily involved in the community; partnering with non-profit organizations, public schools, and related outdoor events across Northwest Arkansas. The new campus location will extend similar partnerships to the University of Arkansas by sponsoring campus activities and providing support to the University Recreation department to promote outdoor-related classes and events.
