Alison Leach, assistant director of parent and family programs in First Year Experience, was selected for the 2012 Region IV Outstanding New Professional Award by the National Orientation Directors Association during its Region IV Conference recently held in Oklahoma City.

Students and staff members from colleges and universities in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas attend this annual conference to share best practices and research in the areas of orientation, transition and retention programs.

The Outstanding New Professional Award recognizes new orientation, retention and retention professionals who have demonstrated service to the association and the profession.

In her role, Leach serves as the primary liaison to parents and family members and coordinates programs including the Parent Partnership Association, Family Weekend and Spring Family Reunion. Leach received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University followed by a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama. She is also serving the National Orientation Directors Association as a member of the 2013 Annual Conference Planning Committee and will serve as co-host of the 2013 Region IV Conference in Little Rock next February.
