New Faculty and Staff to Receive Exchange Accounts

Beginning March 1, a Microsoft Exchange account will be created for each new employee automatically as part of the UARK account activation process. This change follows the January announcement of Exchange as the official university faculty and staff integrated email and calendaring system.

The move to Exchange offers new features for users, reduces costs, and provides a technical infrastructure that improves email availability and protects data. Some user features include:

  • continuity between desktop, mobile, and web browser access
  • increased quota to 1 GB minimum
  • enhanced address book features
  • immediate access to a global address list that includes all faculty, staff, and students
  • ability to share calendars
  • ability to view multiple calendars when scheduling meetings
  • ability to schedule resources such as conference rooms
  • increased email security
  • improved anti-spam and filtering options

Exchange users can access email through a desktop client, a mobile device, or a web browser. Current faculty and staff not yet on Exchange can learn more about migrating to Exchange by consulting their Tech Partner (http://techarticles.uark.edu/tech_partners). All faculty and staff will be required to move to Exchange before UA Mail is retired later this year.
