Research Office Offers Funding for Projects in Arts and Humanities

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The office of the vice provost for research and economic development at the University of Arkansas is offering a total of $20,000 to help faculty members fund new arts and humanities projects. Deadline to apply is March 2.

Tenured and tenure-track faculty members from all University of Arkansas colleges and schools are encouraged to apply for up to $5,000 of funding each. The money is to be used on items that will further a project, such as materials, supplies, student support and travel.

While the funded projects are expected to advance the reputation of the faculty member involved, these funds are also meant to be utilized on a much larger scale.

“By providing this seed funding program, we are hoping to enhance the reputation of the faculty member, their program and the university as a whole,” said Jim Rankin, vice provost for research and economic development. “The University of Arkansas has many exciting programs in the areas of scholarly and creative activity. But, often the funding for these programs is limited to sources such as foundation grants.”

Interested faculty should write a proposal (three pages, maximum) detailing exactly how the funding will be used to further their project. Submit completed proposals via email to Cary Dewey at cedewey@uark.edu by March 2.

Award notification will be made by April 2.
