Second annual Thank a Donor Day event set for Leap Day

On Leap Day, the University of Arkansas community will come together to say thanks to the many benefactors who support the university financially. The second annual Thank a Donor Day, organized by the office of annual programs within University Development, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Connections Lounge of the Arkansas Union.

Chancellor G. David Gearhart will make remarks at 12:30 p.m.

The purpose of Thank a Donor Day is to bring visibility to the many gifts from alumni, friends, parents and the university's very own faculty, staff and students, all of which enhance the University of Arkansas experience each year. “You can see the impact of private gift support all over campus,” said Rachel Krest, director of annual programs. “It’s in the bricks of new and old buildings; it’s a part of the teaching and research achieved by amazing faculty; it’s in the learning and enriched college life experienced by students every day. I can’t think of a better way to show the Razorback family how much we appreciate the many opportunities their gifts enable than to spend part of our extra day saying thank you.”

During this celebration of philanthropy, students and employees are invited to sign a hog-sized thank you card or record a short video message of thanks. Members of the campus community who RSVP for the event on Facebook will be entered to win two tickets to the March 21 Razorback baseball game vs. Nevada. There will be free food and prizes while supplies last. Everyone is invited to join in the fun and show their gratitude.
