University to Test RazALERT Message System on Tuesday

The University of Arkansas will conduct a test of the RazALERT emergency message system at approximately 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. All members of the university community, and others who have been enrolled in the system, will receive email and voice messages from the system. Text messages will also be sent to those who have elected to receive them.

Regular tests of the RazALERT system are part of the university's emergency preparedness plan.

RazALERT (pronounced “raise-alert”) is the university's communication system for sending important messages to all members of the campus community as quickly as possible. Students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in RazALERT through their campus accounts — students in ISIS and faculty and staff in BASIS. It is recommended that campus community members check their accounts prior to the Tuesday test, to make sure their phone numbers, email addresses and text authorizations are up to date.

Students can designate one phone number to receive a text message and as many as six phone numbers to receive voice messages if, for example, they want other family members to receive emergency messages. Students can change their settings by logging into ISIS and choosing “Campus Alert Systems” from the drop-down menu under the “Personal Information” section.

Faculty and staff can specify up to three phone numbers to receive the alerts and can decide whether they want a voice message or text message for each. Faculty and staff can find their settings in the “My Personal Data” portion of their BASIS accounts by clicking on “Addresses, etc.,” for the RazALERT options.

Before adding a family member, such as a parent or spouse who is not on campus, it’s a good idea to get permission from that person.

More information about the emergency notification system is available at the RazALERT website.

Any student, faculty or staff members who do not receive emergency test messages Tuesday should check the information in their ISIS or BASIS accounts.
