Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals to Hold Special Session at School of Law

The University of Arkansas School of Law will host the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit for a special session at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the E.J. Ball Courtroom at Leflar Law Center. Judges Duane Benton, Bobby E. Shepherd and Lavenski R. Smith will preside. Shepherd and Smith are School of Law alumni. The event also will be live-streamed by video in the Norma Lea Beasley Entrance Hall.

The judges will hear oral arguments in the cases of United States v. Randeep Mann; Jason Aamodt, et al, v. City of Norfork, Arkansas; and Rogers Group v. City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The special session is free and open to the public. Valid photo identification must be presented for entry, and those wishing to attend are encouraged to arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. No bags, backpacks, laptops, cameras, food or drink will be allowed in the courtroom, and cell phones must remain off for the duration of the oral arguments. No bags will be allowed to be left outside the courtroom unattended.

The first oral argument will begin promptly at 10 a.m. No one will be admitted into the courtroom once the oral argument begins, and no one inside will be permitted to leave the courtroom until oral arguments have concluded.

There will be a brief question-and-answer session after the oral arguments have concluded.
