Election-Year Internships in Washington, D.C.

Interested in working behind the scenes at the Republican or Democratic National Convention or being in Washington, D.C., for the inauguration of the president of the United States?

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars offers unique internship opportunities every presidential election year. Come learn about the possibilities on Tuesday, Feb. 7, when Sarah Goldfuss, a representative of the Washington Center, will be on campus to meet with students interested in learning about the center’s programs. The Honors College will host information sessions with the Washington Center’s representative from 11 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. in Room 428 of the Administration Building.

The University of Arkansas partners with the Washington Center to send students to D.C. for a semester or a summer, during which students serve as interns with a governmental agency, congressional office, or other policy-oriented organization. As part of the program students also take a course in their field of interest at a Washington-area university. The internship is unpaid but students are eligible to receive course credit through the University of Arkansas. Arkansas residents also may compete for $4,000 scholarships offered by the Washington Center to help defray costs of this internship.

To reserve a spot for either information session please contact Reynelda Augustine-Robinson at raugust@uark.edu. For information about the center and its programs see its website at http://www.twc.edu or contact Dean Bob McMath at bmcmath@uark.edu.
