The University of Arkansas Associated Student Government is inviting all students and community members to unite in the memory of Garrett Uekman, the Razorback student athlete who died Sunday. The vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 in Walton Arena.

“This is a time to reflect, pray for, and honor Garrett and those closest to him,” said Michael Dodd, ASG president. “The Razorback Family is an incredible one, and I encourage everyone in Fayetteville to attend this vigil. An important member of our family has passed away, and this is an opportunity to share our grief and support his loved ones.”

The doors on the south side of the arena will be open at 7 p.m. for everyone who wishes to attend. No signs or placards will be allowed in the arena. Candles will be provided.

Free parking will be available in university lots 56, 56B, 56D, 60.

Speakers at the vigil will include Michael Dodd, ASG president; Chancellor G. David Gearhart; Bobby Petrino, head football coach; Austin Tate, class of 2013; Father Joseph Marconi; Danny Pugh, dean of students and vice provost for student affairs; Father John Antony.

The university Inspirational Singers will perform during the candle lighting ceremony.

Members of the Uekman family will be attending the memorial, as will University System President Don Bobbitt and several members of the university Board of Trustees.
