University of Arkansas Fraternities Give to Fayetteville Families

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and the men of the University of Arkansas’ 13 fraternities want to help the local community. On Sunday, Nov. 20, fraternity members joined several families from the Fayetteville area to purchase groceries for Thanksgiving dinners.

The Interfraternity Council is the governing body of all 13 fraternities on campus. This year the University of Arkansas’ Interfraternity Council chose to give local families Thanksgiving dinners. The chapters joined the families on their shopping trip at Walmart on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and purchasing at least $300 worth of groceries.

The Interfraternity Council Executive Board received the names of the families from local churches, and Life Source, a non-profit organization that helps the less-fortunate.  

“This philanthropy event gives us the opportunity to give back to the community that is so supportive of our university. We also have the ability to showcase our philanthropic values that are instilled in our organizations,” said Daniel Kleine, Interfraternity Council president.
