Pat Walker Health Center Welcomes New Coordinator of Substance Abuse Prevention

The Division of Student Affairs and the health promotions program in the Pat Walker Health Center would like to welcome Debbie Morgan, M.Ed, as the coordinator of substance abuse prevention.

As coordinator, Morgan will provide leadership and coordinate strategic efforts to enhance and promote a comprehensive, campuswide, alcohol and other drug abuse prevention program. Proactive programming will be focused on individuals, at-risk populations, the campus at large and the surrounding community to create a healthy and thriving campus community.

As a doctoral candidate in community health promotion, Morgan has worked the past three years as the graduate assistant responsible for alcohol education in the department of health promotion in the Pat Walker Health Center. As a graduate assistant, she was responsible for the development and implementation of alcohol education programming on campus.

“As Debbie Morgan takes the helm as Coordinator of Substance Abuse Prevention for the entire campus, we anticipate a concerted effort within our campus community to reduce the risks associated with alcohol and substance abuse,” said Mary Alice Serafini, assistant vice provost for student affairs and executive director of the Pat Walker Health Center. “Debbie is a team player with a great deal of expertise in college students and their inappropriate use of alcohol and other drugs.  As we work together, we aim to save lives, keep students on track to graduation and assist students in establishing lifelong healthy habits.”
