Social Work Faculty Member to Receive Alzheimer Senior Research Award
Alishia Ferguson, assistant professor in the School of Social Work, has been chosen to receive the inaugural Senior Research Award from the Northwest Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association.
Ferguson will receive the award at the association’s annual education conference on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The Celebration of Excellence Award Ceremony will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Springdale Holiday Inn.
According to Beckye Clark, program coordinator for the association, the conference will provide professional caregivers and family caregivers with tools that will help them better care for persons with the disease. The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to “eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.”
