Seven University of Arkansas Students Attend the Arkansas Student Leadership Forum

The Arkansas Student Leadership Forum, held in Little Rock October 13-15, is an opportunity for Arkansas college student leaders to engage current business and public leaders in a critical and probing examination of the relevancy of the servant leadership style and methods of Jesus of Nazareth.

Leaders from around the state are committed to realizing this purpose by challenging student leaders to explore with them the significance of the following principles:

  • Commitment to god
  • Compassion to serve
  • Character to inspire
  • Courage to lead

Forum participants represent 16 different Arkansas colleges and universities, each with unique religious, cultural and socioeconomic perspective. The Arkansas Student Leadership Forum hopes to create an environment that is respectful of all backgrounds while stimulating critical thinking and discussion. When students leave the forum they will be more equipped to lead successfully and more inspired to serve others.

The Arkansas Student Leadership Forum is one of many state forums that emerged from the National Student Leadership Forum held in Washington, D.C., each year. Students attending the Arkansas forum will be tapping into a larger movement of people across the nation and the world who seek to serve rather than be served and make a difference.

The students attendees include:

  • Elizabeth Millburn, senior, childhood education major and political science minor, from Austin, Texas
  • Will Simpson, sophomore, economics and finance major, from Mountain View, Ark.
  • Will Carter, junior, financial investments major, from Memphis, Tenn.
  • Kyani Alford, sophomore, mechanical engineering major, from West Memphis, Ark.
  • Michael Dodd, senior, transportation and logistics major, from Leawood, Kan.
  • Ben Onukwube, senior, computer engineering major, from Little Rock, Ark.
  • Todd Baltz, sophomore, biology pre-med major, from Pocahontas, Ark.
