Alternative Spring Break is a service-learning experience that allows students the opportunity learn from the people and organizations they encounter, and gain a better understanding of the world, and become responsible citizens.

This year the ASB Program Dream B.I.G. (Believing in Girls) will consist of female student mentors facilitating a three-day girl empowerment camp for high school girls from the Arkansas Delta. The Center for Community Engagement is currently looking for three student coordinators to help plan and implement Dream B.I.G. Student Coordinators will be expected to assist with recruitment and awareness efforts, mentor selection and training, camp curriculum development and program evaluation. In addition to these responsibilities Dream B.I.G. Coordinators must agree to be present throughout the duration of ASB March 17-22.

Interested applicants must complete the Student Coordinator application and return it to the Center for Community Engagement, located in the Arkansas Union A643. Applications can be picked up from the Center for Community Engagement or can be found online at service.uark.edu/asb.

All applications are due by 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7. Contact ASB intern Quiana Jenkins at altsb@uark.edu for more information.
