Taking Law Degrees 'Outside the Box'

The University of Arkansas School of Law presents the latest panel in its Pathways to the Profession series: J.D. Outside the Box. The panel will feature Wal-Mart and Sam's Club executives who have used their juris doctorates to pursue careers outside the courtroom.

The presentation will take place at noon Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the E.J. Ball Courtroom and is open to the law school community.

Panelists include:

  • Laura Asbury (School of Law J.D. 2005) – compliance director, Health & Wellness
  • Reed Luhtanen (School of Law J.D. 2007) – director of debit cards, Payment Services
  • Angie Muldoon – director of business development, Sam’s Club Health & Wellness
  • Jed Penney (School of Law J.D. 1995) – senior program manager, Information Technology Risk & Security Governance (IT Compliance)
  • Sybil Richard – vice president of professional affairs and compliance officer, Health & Wellness
  • Jennifer Sommer (School of Law J.D. 2006) – director of regulatory affairs for optical and federal healthcare issues, Health & Wellness
  • Sallie Stroud – senior director of product safety and compliance execution, Product Safety & Compliance
