Search Committee to Recommend Candidates for Senior Associate Dean of Students

A search committee has been formed to seek, review and recommend candidates for the position of senior associate dean of students for the Division of Student Affairs. Vice provost for student affairs and dean of students Daniel Pugh has appointed David Davies, assistant vice provost for finance and administration in student affairs, as committee chair.

The group, made of faculty and staff from across the University, seeks to replace Ashley Tull, who recently took a faculty position at University of Texas-Arlington.

“We are so pleased that Dr. Tull will be able to join his wife in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as she begins her new role with TCU and his with UTA,” said Pugh. “His accomplishments while at Arkansas will have a lasting impact on the lives of our students and the staff in the Division of Student Affairs. During his tenure, he has published and presented research, which has better informed our profession. I've long joked that he would make an excellent faculty member, and what do you know, it turns out he is going to do just that! The students at UTA are in for a real treat.”

The senior associate dean of students has leadership, supervisory and administrative responsibility for two associate deans of students and their respective reporting departments including Academic Integrity and Student Conduct, Center for Educational Access, Center for Community Engagement, First Year Experience, Greek Life, Off Campus Connections, Student Activities, Student Media, Student Mediation and Conflict Resolution, and Veterans Resource and Information Center.

Search committee members are:

  • Tim Kral and Trish Amason, faculty
  • Jessica Pope, graduate student
  • Graham Talley, undergraduate student
  • Paul Adams, Greek faculty adviser
  • Tracy Stehlik, athletics
  • John Tolleson, development
  • Matt Mills, University of Arkansas Police Department
  • Mary Alice Serafini, Judd Harbin, Aisha Kenner, Adrain Smith, Flo Johnson, and Marsha Norvell, from the Division of Student Affairs

“This is an excellent search committee that is broadly representative of the division, but also includes members from the larger university community who bring different perspectives to this important search,” said Davies.
