A Paid Study for Socially Anxious Drinkers

Do you feel anxious or nervous in social situations? Do you have a couple of drinks to take the edge off? If you are a current drinker over the age of 21 and feel anxious is social situations, you may be eligible to participate in a study on alcohol and the social world. The Laboratory for Anxiety and Substance Abuse Research in the University of Arkansas department of psychology is conducting a study on the effects of alcohol on information processing. Participation in this study will contribute to knowledge that will help people with alcohol problems.

The study will involve a private interview with a researcher, completion of questionnaires, a laboratory-based imagery task, physiological measurement, and possible consumption of alcohol. Participation in the study takes approximately 3 hours for the first visit and if eligible, 5 hours for the second visit. Participants may be compensated up to $110 for their time. The study will be conducted on evenings and weekends to accommodate most schedules.
