Chemical engineering professor hosts French scientists

Jerry King, the Ansel and Virginia Condray Professor in the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering, hosted and met with a French delegation representing Innovation Fluides Supercritiques (Supercritical Fluid Innovation) in July.

King met the delegation when they arrived in Cincinnati on July 7, where he presented a lecture about research at the University of Arkansas. The following day, the group traveled to Fayetteville to visit the Engineering Research Center, tour King's lab, and learn about the status of supercritical fluid technology research in the United States.

The French delegation also visited colleges and businesses in Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania, with a goal of establishing potential transfer of supercritical fluid technology developed by French organizations to the United States. Supercritical fluids are compressed fluids utilized in bioenergy, materials science and other engineering and food applications partly due to their "green" properties and sustainability.

Innovation Fluides Supercritiques has chosen King to be their United States representative, and they hope to attend the International Symposium of Supercritical Fluids, for which King is the chairman.
