FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ro Di Brezzo, University Professor of kinesiology and director of the Human Performance Lab in the College of Education and Health Professions, has been named interim vice provost for academic affairs, effective Aug. 15. This is a half-time position and Di Brezzo will continue her teaching and administrative duties in her college. As interim vice provost she is filling a redefined version of the position previously held by Nancy Talburt, who retired last year. A search will be conducted in the future to permanently fill the position.

Di Brezzo was named a University Professor in the department of health, kinesiology, recreation and dance in 2006. She served as chair of the Faculty Senate in 2010-11 and chair of the Campus Faculty in 2009-10. Additionally, she served as interim department head for health, kinesiology, recreation and dance. Di Brezzo received the Baum Teaching Award in 1999 and was one of the co-founders and co-directors of the Teaching and Faculty Support Center. She has received the College of Education and Health Professions Outstanding Teaching Award twice, the college’s Outstanding Research Award, and the Southern Academy of Women in Physical Activity, Sport and Health Research Award twice.

“Dr. Di Brezzo’s academic and administrative experiences make her well-suited to step into this key role in Academic Affairs,” said Chancellor G. David Gearhart.

Prior to joining the University of Arkansas, Di Brezzo taught and coached at Ball State University and Central Michigan University. She received her doctoral degree from the Texas Woman’s University, her master’s degree from Indiana University, and her bachelor of science degree from Brooklyn College.

“She brings a broad range of knowledge related to faculty and campus issues and ideas,” said Provost Sharon Gaber. “Dr. Di Brezzo will be an asset in continuing to move the University of Arkansas forward.”
