New Colleague Articles Include Story About Honor Denied to Graduate 60 Years Ago

Colleague, the online magazine site of the College of Education and Health Professions, was updated last week with an article about the daughter of a master's degree graduate being invited to the May 14 commencement to accept the degree her mother earned 60 years ago. Treopia Washington's mother, Lothaire Scott Green, was told not to come to commencement in 1951 because she was black.

Other articles include doctoral research on women who lost limbs during military service, profiles of alumni award winners Les Carnine and Phillip Rumrill, features on faculty and staff members who have participated in fitness and wellness programs offered by the department of intramural/recreational sports, and a slideshow of student award winners.

The site also includes updated photographs of the renovation of Peabody Hall and a graduation picture of Rene Cook, co-coach of the Arkansas women's gymnastics team, and Jonathon Modica, former Razorback basketball player, who each earned a doctorate in higher education last month.
