Walton College Honors Faculty, Staff and Team Award Winners

The Sam M. Walton College of Business is pleased to announce its 2010-2011 faculty, staff and team award winners. These award recipients were honored for their dedication to students, the College and the University of Arkansas at a ceremony in early May. 

"We in the Walton College are most fortunate to be immersed in such a talent-rich environment. It is a great pleasure to recognize these outstanding staff, graduate student, faculty and team award winners. They are the best of the best. Congratulations to all," remarked Dan Worrell, dean of the Walton College. 

The faculty award winners for the 2010-2011 academic year are:

  • Outstanding "All-Around" Faculty Award: Scott Burton, professor in the department of marketing for his excellence in teaching, research and service
  • Excellence in Teaching Award: Robert Stapp, clinical associate professor of economics
  • Excellence in Research Award: Chris Rosen, assistant professor of management
  • Excellence in Service Award: Vikas Anand, associate professor in the department of management
  • Excellence in Advising Award: Rien Bouwman, professor in the department of accounting
  • Faculty Diversity Award: Gary Ferrier, chair of the department of economics and holder of the Lewis E. Epley Jr. Professorship
  • Graduate Assistant Teaching Award: Samantha Conroy, doctoral student in the department of management

The staff award winners for the 2010-2011 academic year are:

  • Major Contribution Award: Amy Webster, administrative support supervisor, Undergraduate Programs Office
  • Superior Service Award: Jeff Waits, computer support specialist, Walton College Technology Center
  • The "Green" Award: Suson Wheeler, administrative support supervisor, Academic Affairs
  • The "Rookie" Award: Corey Coston, senior financial analyst, Walton College Accounting Center

The High Performance Team Award was presented to the Enterprise Technology Team for their work with the Walton College business intelligence education systems. Members include Michael Gibbs and Rhys Dixon.

The Outstanding Team Achievement Award went to the Branding and Identity Subcommittee of the Marketing and Steering Committee for their "re-branding" of the Walton College.  Team members are Paula Lawrence and Leonard Ridley.

Many faculty and staff were also honored for their years of service to the University of Arkansas, ranging from ten to 40 years.

The Sam M. Walton College of Business is ranked among the top 24 public undergraduate business schools in U.S. News and World Report's "2011 America's Best Colleges" publication, holding its position in the top 25 for the past eight years.  Consisting of six departments and numerous outreach and research centers, the Walton College is home to more than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students, 105 staff and 88 faculty.
