Eleanor Mann School of Nursing students at the University of Arkansas presented information on nutrition and exercise to kindergarten through fifth-graders at Shaw Elementary School in Springdale on May 4.

Jessica Clark, Lauren Bosch, Natalya Walker, Nancy Oropeza, Laida Blair, Ashley Campbell, Jessica Bragg and Lauren Ballard are students in Allison Scott's senior community clinical group. The daylong presentation based on the Fuel Up to Play 60 model used by the school was the nursing students' final project before graduating. The Fuel Up to Play 60 program is sponsored by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League.

"The Shaw students were able to try at least two vegetables they had never tried or tried them in a new way," said Scott, a clinical instructor of nursing. "The big hit of the day were the red, yellow and orange peppers. Most students also liked edamame (soybeans typically boiled in the pod)."
