Following the lead of Red, White & True co-chairs Bev Lewis and Charles Robinson, several University of Arkansas faculty and staff members have volunteered to serve as captains in support of the campus giving initiative. The captains, who work in a variety of areas across campus, are volunteering their time to help spread the word about, and share information related to, the 2011 Red, White & True effort, which will officially kick off in April.

The Red, White & True campus giving initiative is supported by the office of annual programs within University Development.

"I am overwhelmed by the excitement of our outstanding group of faculty and staff volunteers," said Merin Macechko, associate director of annual programs. "They are passionate about everything we can achieve as a campus through philanthropy, and they understand the importance of getting everyone involved. Our captains are a special group of people, and I know there are many more on campus who share their feelings about supporting the University of Arkansas."

The Red, White & True 2011 captains are:

  • Lonnie Billington, central supply manager, Facilities Management
  • Debbie Blume, executive assistant, Arkansas Alumni Association
  • Carl Circo, professor, School of Law
  • Ed Clausen, professor of chemical engineering, College of Engineering

"I love the U of A because it has afforded me unlimited opportunities for learning, prepared me for professional growth and allowed me to pursue my chosen profession," said Billington. I am a proud graduate of the U of A, a member of the Facilities Management staff for 19 years and dedicated to supporting the U of A in all endeavors."
