Toronto Chemist to Give Lecture on Nanoparticles

The department of chemistry and biochemistry Spring Lecture Series presents Warren C. W. Chan, University of Toronto, who will present “How to Deliver Nanoparticles into Tumors?
Probing the Interactions of Nanoparticles with Biological Systems,” Monday, February 21 at 3:30 p.m. in CHEM 144.

Chan is currently an associate professor in the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. He also holds the Canadian Research Chair in Bionanotechnology and is affiliated with the department of materials science and engineering, the Terrence Donnelly Center for Cellular and Biomolecular Research Chemistry, and the department of chemistry and chemical engineering.

His research interest is in the development of nano and microtechnology for cancer and infectious disease diagnosis. He has received the BF Goodrich Young Inventors Award, Lord Rank Prize Fund Award in Optoelectronics (England), and Dennis Gabor Award (Hungary). Chan received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and doctorate from Indiana University. He conducted post-doctoral training at the University of California-San Diego.

A reception will take place after the seminar in CHEM 105.
