FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock is currently running its 53rd Annual Delta Exhibition. The exhibition is being held in the Townsend Wolfe Gallery through Feb. 20. Of the 54 works selected for the exhibit, four were created by University of Arkansas alumni.

The Delta Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture was created in 1956 to feature contemporary works by artists from Arkansas and the bordering states. The Delta Exhibition has grown to encompass works in all media and displays the dynamic vision of the artists of the Mississippi Delta region. The Delta Exhibition is open to all artists who live in or were born in one of the following states: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

The works on display were selected for the 53rd Annual Delta Exhibition by Meredith Ward, president of Meredith Ward Fine Art in New York City.

“It is truly a privilege to serve as the juror for the 53rd Annual Delta Exhibition,” said Ward. “The variety of work submitted this year was extraordinary, and it was extremely difficult to cull down 803 works to the 54 selected for the exhibition.”

The four University of Arkansas alumni included in this year’s exhibition are Kevin Dale Arnold, Garry Alan Holstein, Britt Gremillion and Jerry Sanders.

Arnold, BFA'07, of Rudy had his work titled Packaging/Storage Box #S-4165, 2010, oil on canvas, selected.

Gremillion is a 1978 B.A. graduate from Fayetteville. Her oil painting Biscuit is featured in the exhibition.

Holstein, B.A.'05, M.A.'07, M.F.A.'10, of Delaware, is exhibiting Repent — the White Horse Cries, 2009, ink, graphite, watercolor, color pencil on paper.

Sanders, a 1963 architecture alumnus from Conway, had Windwalker, 2010, acrylic and ink on canvas selected for the exhibition.
