Time Running Out to Enroll in Human Resource Development Classes in Rogers and Online

Time is running out to enroll in the 12-session Society for Human Resource Management Learning System preparation course offered face-to-face at the University of Arkansas Global Campus (School of Continuing Education and Academic Outlook) in Rogers and online, beginning Thursday, Feb. 10. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Human resource professionals throughout Arkansas can register to attend class at the Rogers Global Campus or via simultaneous, two-way video-over-Internet (VoIP) webcast.

Classes will be offered 6-9 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 10 through April 28, face-to-face at the Rogers Global Campus, 3300 Market Street, in the Pinnacle Center, and will be simulcast “live” over the Internet for participants who choose to attend the classes remotely. Continuing education units are available to those who successfully complete the 12-week course. To register, go to the Global Campus professional development page.

The Society for Human Resource Management Learning System is designed for people seeking continuing professional development and a broad overview of the field. It is also a tool for those preparing to take the Professional in Human Resources or the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification exams.

“Having this program available to all human resource professionals in the state is answering a great need,” said Karen Williamson, certification chair for the Arkansas Society for Human Resources. “Achieving certification demonstrates the HR professional’s desire and drive for continual growth of human resource knowledge to meet the ever increasing challenge to provide value added services. This prep course maximizes the learning experience through a flexible framework in leading the HR professional through complex topics of today.”

This course is offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management.

The addition of the Internet-based session enables the Global Campus to serve more professionals than its typical 25 to 30 people who enrolled in the local certification preparation course each year in the past.

“Now, students can live or work anywhere in the state and log into a live and dynamic class, experiencing the same content they would get if they were in a classroom with the instructor,” said Judith Tavano, professional development program coordinator at the Global Campus.

Participants will prepare to pass human resources certification exams, while increasing their knowledge of the field of human resources, including updates on current policies and legislation.

The course cost of $1,090 includes 12 class sessions, books, learning aids, access to Blackboard, practice tests, and all recorded sessions. The course investment does not cover registration for certification exams. 2011 exam eligibility requirements, costs and application dates are available online.
