Mid-Year Fundraising Results Announced

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – At the halfway point of the 2011 fiscal year on Dec. 31, 2010, the University of Arkansas has raised $64,477,768, a 42 percent increase over the amount raised in the same period of time last year.

The amount raised thus far includes outright gifts of cash, gifts-in-kind, new planned gifts and new pledges secured between July 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2010. It includes funds designated for academic and athletic purposes such as need-based scholarships, study abroad, the Razorback Foundation and University Libraries.

“This outstanding total at the mid-year point showcases the loyalty and generosity of University of Arkansas alumni, friends, faculty, staff, parents and students,” said Brad Choate, vice chancellor for university advancement. “As our need for private support grows, it is a humbling reality each year as we report totals well beyond what could be expected based on national trends, reports from peer institutions and general economic challenges.

“We are grateful to every benefactor who makes the decision to invest in higher education and become a part of our incredible students’ and talented faculty members’ success stories,” continued Choate. “Additionally, we are appreciative of the hard work of the university’s faculty, fundraising team and associated colleagues who strive to align our alumni and friends’ interests in giving with opportunities to make a meaningful impact at the University of Arkansas.”

During the same period last year, the University of Arkansas raised $45.3 million. The 2011 fiscal year ends June 30.
