Zoe Teague is the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement's Student Leader of the Week for Jan. 30 to Feb. 5.

Zoe is from Jonesboro, Ark., and is in the honors college majoring in environmental, soil and water science.

Zoe is the director of Sustainability, Senate Sustainability and Campus Environment Committee chair, Sustainability Commission chair from the Associated Student Government. She is also involved with Crops, Soils and Environmental Science Club and the UA Sustainability Council tri-chair.

Zoe finds organization and punctuality as key characteristics of a leader. “Leaders must first be respectful and mindful of others priorities, and respect must be earned. Leaders must be able to accept criticism from others. Instigating change is impossible without the ability to accept criticism.” Zoe explained. “Be the leader you would follow. Respect the priorities and perspectives of others first and foremost and always remain open to criticism.”

Zoe's most memorable Razorback moment was hearing the fight song at the first home football game of the year and twirling downfield in front of 70,000-plus ecstatic Razorback fans when she was a Razorback majorette her freshman year.

Her favorite quote is from Eleanor Roosevelt: “Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned if you don’t.”
