Student Leader of the Week: Sarah Gibson
Sarah Gibson is the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement's "Student Leader of the Week" for Jan. 23-29.
Sarah is from Bentonville and is a junior majoring in economics and political science.
Sarah is a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity, the National Panhellenic Council, ASG cabinet, and Schools for Schools. She joined Chi Omega in order to meet people and develop friendships. Through her membership in Chi Omega, she has had the chance to get involved with the National Panhellenic Council.
Sarah sees humility, determination and passion as key characteristics of a leader. "In developing leadership skills, it is crucial for a leader to continually evaluate the quality and effectiveness of his or her work. We draw strength to continue through our mistakes and from failure our determination and passion for leadership," Sarah explained. “It is important to constantly remind yourself that, as a leader, you are a representative and a servant. Value the fact the people have entrusted you with leadership because they believe in you. Do not take this responsibility lightly.”
Sarah's most memorable Razorback moment was when she participated in the Homecoming pep-rally in her sophomore year.
Her favorite quote is from Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
