Professor Jeff Murray has been appointed as chair of the Marketing and Logistics Department.
Jeff B. Murray, professor, has been appointed as chair of the marketing and logistics department in the Sam M. Walton College of Business.
He holds a bachelor's degree in social science and an a master's degree in sociology from the University Northern Colorado and a doctoral in marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Murray teaches shopper, buyer, and consumer behavior; managing ideas, products, and services; and interpretive consumer research. His research focuses on ethnography and semiotics in the context of shopper, buyer, and consumer behavior. He has published articles in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Consumer Policy, American Behavioral Scientist, and Consumption, Markets and Culture. Murray serves on the editorial review board of the Consumption, Markets and Culture. He is active in the American Marketing Association, Association for Consumer Research, and American Sociological Association.
In 2002, Murray won both the Outstanding All-Around Professor Award as well as the prestigious Charles and Nadine Baum Faculty Teaching Award at the University of Arkansas. In 2010, Murray was invited to present his work at the doctoral seminar, “Consumption Theory: A Canon of Classics,” at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense. He has also recently taught doctoral seminars and workshops in ethnography at the University of Gothenburg in Göteborg, Sweden and the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
