Laurent Bellaiche Named Fellow of American Physical Society

Laurent Bellaiche, professor of physics in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, has been elected a fellow of the American Physical Society, the premier society of nearly 50,000 physicists around the world. Election to an APS fellowship is limited to less than 0.5 percent of its membership in a given year. Laurent's election brings the number of APS fellows on the current physics department faculty to seven.

The citation for Bellaiche reads: "For pioneering contributions to the first-principles theory of semiconductor alloys and ferroelectric materials."
