Lewis, Robinson Named Inaugural Co-Chairs of Red, White & True
Faculty and staff at the University of Arkansas have an opportunity to enhance the future of the Hill. Through Red, White & True, the newly named faculty and staff giving program, members of the campus community can impact specific departments, programs, scholarships or other initiatives that matter most to them.
This year, Bev Lewis, associate vice chancellor and executive associate athletic director, and Charles Robinson, vice provost for diversity and director of the African and African American Studies program, are serving as co-chairs of this effort. Both campus leaders feel a responsibility and a desire to help the university be the best it can be.
“The University of Arkansas depends on private giving to provide a better educational opportunity for students and an improved working environment for faculty and staff,” said Lewis. “I am pleased to co-chair this important effort to reach out to our faculty and staff and ask for their assistance in raising vital funds for helping our students and supporting our programs and research.”
“I agreed to serve in this capacity because I believe that it is my duty to support our university in every possible way,” said Robinson. “Our university has many important programs that need the backing of our dedicated faculty and staff in order to be successful.”
The campus philanthropy program is coordinated by Merin Macechko, associate director in the office of annual programs within university development.
“Participation is the goal,” said Macechko. “When we, as a campus community, join together to support our university, we are setting an example for our alumni and friends to follow. You hear over and over that every gift matters, and I have seen that statement in action. Gifts of all sizes really do add up, and can truly make all the difference for our students. And by giving to an area that you’re passionate about, you can have an immediate impact on our campus in a way that is meaningful to you.”
In the coming months, employees will hear more about Red, White & True and will have opportunities to make a gift and join in the excitement.
