Language Panel One Highlight of American Indian Heritage Month

A panel will discuss language preservation and revitalization in contemporary Native American cultures on Nov. 11 at the University of Arkansas.

The panel presentation, called "Passing the Old to the New," is part of events planned for American Indian Heritage Month. It is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 in the Multicultural Center of the Arkansas Union in Fayetteville.

The program will feature presentations by each representative followed by a question-and-answer opportunity for the audience.

Presenters will be Teresa and Curtis Billy, Choctaw Language School; Kirstin Erickson, University of Arkansas professor of anthropology, Yaqui tribe; Janet Johnson and Jennifer Johnson, Seminole Nation; Dr. Gloria Sly and J.P. Johnson, Cherokee Nation; and Jessica Park, a University of Arkansas doctoral student, Euchee-Yuchi Language Project.
