Award presented to Razorback Transit Service

The Razorback Transit system at the University of Arkansas received an Award of Achievement from the Federal Transit Administration for showing the highest percentage ridership growth in the state last year. During fiscal year 2009 a total of 1,335,124 passengers rode the Razorback Transit bus lines; in fiscal year 2010 that number jumped to 1,572,101, a 17.7 percent increase for the fiscal year.

Razorback Transit provides free bus service all year both on campus and in the Fayetteville area.

“We appreciate this recognition from our good friends at FTA,” said Gary Smith, director of university transit and parking. “We’re happy to report that our ridership has continued to grow in the first quarter of this fiscal year as we serve our university community and the city of Fayetteville.
