Business and Professional Women's Event to Benefit Othelia Paul Scholarship Fund

The second annual Total Woman Workshop/Luncheon sponsored by the Fayetteville Business and Professional Women is set for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Clarion Inn in Fayetteville.

Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Othelia Paul Scholarship Fund that was established in memory of Paul, who was a past president of the Fayetteville BPW and of the Arkansas BPW. Additionally, she worked as an assistant to several deans of the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. This year's winner of the scholarship is Angela Chang from Bolivia, a junior at the University of Arkansas who is studying to become a nurse.

In the first session on "You and Your Job," the following workshops have been planned: “Marketing Yourself” conducted by Jamie Smith and “Legalizing Your Business” conducted by Amy Robinson from the Springline Group in Fayetteville. The second session focuses on "Living the Good Life" and includes these workshops: “Cleaning Up Your Mess” (having your papers in order to help your family clean up your affairs) conducted by former Sebastian County judge Mary Beth Sudduth; “Keeping a Healthy Balance” conducted by Marla Roberds from Roberds Wellness and Pain Relief in Fayetteville; and ending with “Protecting Yourself Physically and Calming Your Inner Self” conducted by Freddie Bowles, assistant professor of foreign language education at the University of Arkansas.

During the luncheon, which starts at noon, motivational speaker Betty Turner of Fayetteville will provide guiding life tips on the topic “I Must Confess; I Love Stress.” Additionally, Beverly Odom, the assistant manager of Talbot’s in the Northwest Arkansas Mall, will coordinate the modeling of black- and-white accessorized outfits that are appropriate for the office, casual wear and evening attire.
