The sUgAR Gallery in Bentonville is displaying and celebrating the ceramic work of eleven local teenagers in a new exhibition called "Leaving a mark: en el barro/Dejando lamarca: in clay."

The teens all attended a collaborative workshop led by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Boys and Girls Club of Benton County and the University of Arkansas department of art. The workshop enabled them to make their mark while responding to the centuries-old ceramics and contemporary ollas featured in "Transforming Tradition: The Pottery of Mata Ort" currently on display at Crystal Bridges at the Massey.

A reception for the artists is being held at the sUgAR Gallery Friday, Aug. 27, from 5-8 p.m.

The artworks in "Leaving a mark: en el barro/Dejando lamarca: in clay" are on display until Sept. 18 at sUgAR Gallery, located at 114 W. Central Ave., just off the Bentonville Square.

The Bentonville Convention and Visitors Bureau and Table Mesa restaurant are co-sponsoring the exhibition.
