University of Arkansas to Release 2010 Commission’s Third Report 'Gaining Ground’

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The third in a series of reports prepared by the 2010 Commission, “Gaining Ground,” will be released during a press conference on Wednesday, March 2. Scheduled speakers will be Chancellor John A. White and Reynie Rutledge, chair of the 2010 Commission. The media is invited to attend.

“Gaining Ground” serves as a mid-course evaluation, examining both progress made and ground yet to be gained since the 2010 Commission was formed. The report also offers 28 recommendations to state leaders, including 12 that are directed toward state officials, seven intended for the state’s business leaders, and nine aimed at the University of Arkansas community.

The 2010 Commission is a group of approximately 90 leaders of business, government and academe formed by Chancellor White in 2000. The commission has been charged with constructing a plan for the University of Arkansas for the 21st century — a plan to help bring Arkansas to greater economic and education strength among the states.
