New Logo for University of Arkansas in Use Starting Today

Official departments, centers and units of the University of Arkansas may start using the university's new logo as of today.

The new logo, which continues to feature the north tower of Old Main as its primary symbol, was unveiled in March so that departments, colleges and schools could begin preparing for use of the new logo.

The new logo separates the words "University of Arkansas" as a wordmark from the symbol, giving designers more flexibility in using the logo and name of the institution in more diverse ways.

Roy Cordell, director of visual and creative services for the office of university relations, said departments that still have stationery or envelopes with the old logo are welcome to continue using those supplies until they are exhausted. "We know there will be a transition period while the old logo is phased out and the new logo is phased in with new orders for business cards, notepads, folders and other printed products," Cordell said. "Our goal is to make that transition as quickly as reasonable, but we don't to waste existing supplies either."

For information and guidelines about use of the new logo or the wordmark, go to logo.uark.edu or call the creative services office of university relations at 575-5555.
