NEW DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR APPOINTED FOR UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. - Charlotte Taylor, director of planning for the University of Arkansas’ Department of Horticulture, has been appointed director of development for the School of Architecture.
Prior to joining the University, she was the executive director for the Alpha Delta Pi National Sorority in Atlanta, Ga., from 1986 to 1996. She also served as the director of development for the Austin Symphony Orchestra in Austin, Tex., from 1984 to 1986.
"Ms. Taylor brings a wealth of experience to the position," said Daniel Bennett, acting vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and dean of the School of Architecture. "Her skills will greatly benefit the School, the University's advancement efforts and our alumni coordination programs. I speak for our all of our faculty and staff in saying that we look forward to working with Charlotte to expand upon the solid foundation that has already been established."
Clay Edwards, assistant vice chancellor for development, said, "We are very fortunate to recruit Charlotte. Her strong commitment to the mission of the University of Arkansas has been reinforced during years of involvement with the Alumni Association. She understands how important the School of Architecture is to the students and the many constituents who it serves in the state and region. Building relationships that lead to a more secure financial foundation has never been more important."
Taylor said, "The position provides an outstanding opportunity to be intimately involved in the growth of this nationally recognized program, as well as to be actively involved in the advancement efforts of the entire University. I have a very strong commitment to the University of Arkansas and I look forward to making a positive impact on its future."
In addition to her professional experience, Taylor has used her talent and enthusiasm to benefit numerous non-profit organizations. She is currently the vice president of programming for the Alpha Delta Pi board of directors, chairperson of the Planned Parenthood Advisory Board for Northwest Arkansas, a member of the Community Preschool Board of Directors, and board president of the Alpha Delta Pi Gift Mart, Inc.
Taylor received a master’s degree in education (1983) at the University of Vermont in Burlington and a bachelor’s degree (1980) at the University of Arkansas.
