FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — NCR has joined the Information Technology Research Center (ITRC) in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, as its latest corporate member. NCR joins 16 other companies who are currently members of the ITRC.

"NCR and the Walton College already have a solid relationship," said Brad Lawless, managing director of the ITRC. "NCR was instrumental in helping us start our Enterprise Systems program by donating a Teradata machine for data warehousing teaching and research. We are extremely happy to see this relationship growing and deepening as they join the research center."

Joseph Rarey, senior managing partner for Teradata, is NCR’s representative to the ITRC board of advisors in the Walton College. The ITRC board of advisors is comprised of 17 information technology executives from some of the nation’s largest companies, who meet regularly to provide input on the center’s research direction, Walton College curriculum and technology trends.

"We are delighted to have someone of Joseph’s caliber join the board," said Lawless. "His industry experience and knowledge will be a real asset to the ITRC."

For more than 17 years Rarey has worked with the NCR Teradata database system. Throughout his career, Rarey has held several key positions — such as retail CTO — in NCR’s database and engineering organizations. Concentrating on large companies with vast volumes of data, Rarey currently focuses on helping customers define and deploy solutions that respond to their unique business problems.

The ITRC was established in the Walton College in 1999 with a portion of the endowment created by the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation’s 1998 gift of $50 million. The ITRC conducts IT research for and with organizations, collects and analyzes data, provides on-site research reviews, hosts research workshops and provides research facilities.
