Multicultural Center Welcomes Campus Community to Mourn Loss of Student
Friends of April Love will gather at 5 p.m. today, Sept. 19, in the Multicultural Center, located on the 4th floor of the Arkansas Union, to mourn this loss to the UA campus. The gathering is intended to give students, faculty and staff an opportunity to meet and express their feelings and share memories of Love, who was involved in numerous activities and organizations on the UA campus and in the community.
Johnetta Cross Brazell, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, and members of her staff will be available to talk to students and take questions. Representatives from St James Baptist Church as well as members of Diversity Alliance, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and other organizations Love was involved with will be present.
Grief counseling will be available to students, faculty and staff from Counseling and Psychological Services. For more information about services offered, please call (479) 575-2277.
For more information about Monday’s meeting, please contact the Multicultural Center at (479) 575-2064.
A friend of Love has created a Web site to gather information, photos, stories and tributes to Love. Ryshelle McCadney worked with Love last summer at the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, D.C., and wanted to provide a commemorative site that would be available to Love's friends beyond Arkansas.
