Ten schools will compete during each "Millionaire" telecast, with these same schools also engaging in the Enhanced TV competition. They can then select their desired college from a pull-down menu, and accumulate points for that college team with each question answered correctly. A winning college will be crowned each evening at the end of each time zone’s telecast. In addition, individual top scoring players will qualify for exciting Enhanced TV prizes each night.

The "College Edition" television showfeatures students selected during "Millionaire's" first-ever contestant search. During the nationwide search, 30 students were selected from among thousands who responded to the live, in-person auditions held in Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The finalists are all current undergraduate college students who are at least 18 years old. Each finalist had to pass a 30-question written test before advancing to a videotaped interview with a "Millionaire" producer at the audition site.
