Improvements to Faculty/Staff Email, Calendars and Messaging Coming Soon

Technology for faculty and staff is getting better!

Email services and Skype/Lync messaging for faculty and staff will soon be migrated to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud, freeing up university resources and making it easier for faculty and staff to conduct business and collaborate with students.

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 29, Skype/Lync for all faculty and staff accounts will be migrated to the cloud. As each user is migrated, they could experience a brief interruption in service and will be required to log into Skype or Lync again. For assistance, contact the IT Help Desk at 479-575-2905.

Faculty and staff Exchange email and calendaring services will be migrated from Jan. 3 to 10. The migration will bring several improvements, including a 50 GB email quota (currently 4 GB) and a more user-friendly web app for Mail that will be accessed at outlook.office.com (currently Outlook Web App at exchange.uark.edu). Faculty and staff will receive advanced notification with detailed information about these changes.

The faculty and staff Office 365 cloud migration is part of the Achieve IT: Collaborate Everywhere project, which brought free Microsoft Office services to students earlier this year. The goal of Collaborate Everywhere is to provide easy-to-use, modern services across campus to support academic success and effective business processes.

Campus technology experts are currently working toward a solution to provide free Microsoft Office services to all faculty and staff after the cloud migration is completed.
